The CEO of coupons.com admits that the use of digital coupons surge from April to May and June shaped up to be yet another slow month. With rapidly increasing gasoline prices, and unemployment at record high, people are feeling the tight squeeze. The amount of recently laid-off workers filing claims for jobless benefits last week fell to lowest level since early this year, however this is mainly due to the auto industry layoffs. Consumers and businesses are increasingly cutting back their spending in response to the bursting of the housing bubble and the financial crisis, sending the economy into the longest recession since World War II.
